Stephen Ubl is the president and CEO of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), which represents the nation's largest biopharmaceutical research firms. Ubl oversees PhRMA's efforts protecting and improving a healthcare and economic environment that supports medical innovation, new medication development, and access to life-saving medicines. Ubl was previously the president and CEO of the medical technology association AdvaMed. Ubl worked with AdvaMed to assist promote historic changes to the US Food and Drug Administration's product approval process, as well as Medicare coverage and reimbursement of medical technology. He spearheaded the industry's robust defense of breakthrough RD, effectively postponing an innovation-stifling device tax, and was named one of ten persons to have a lasting impact on the medical technology sector by a key industry newspaper in 2013.
