Stephen P. MacMillan Biography

In December 2013, Mr. MacMillan was named President and CEO of Hologic, and in June 2015, he was made Chairman. He recently served as interim CEO of BioMed LLC from October 2012 until December 2013. Until February 2012, Stephen P. MacMillan was the Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Stryker Corporation. Mr. MacMillan joined Stryker in 2003 as President and Chief Operating Officer. In January 2005, he was appointed CEO and Chairman. During his nine years at Stryker, income nearly doubled from $2.8 billion to over $8.3 billion in 2011, and the firm rose more than 200 spaces up the Fortune 500 list while improving the organization's quality consistency and assembly responsibilities. Mr. MacMillan began his career with Procter & Gamble in 1985 and then spent a year with Johnson and Johnson in both the United States and Europe before becoming President of the joint venture between Johnson and Johnson and Merck. In 2000, he joined Pharmacia Corporation's Executive Committee, reporting to CEO Fred Hassan, and supervised five global companies with revenues exceeding $2 billion. Mr. MacMillan has also served on the Board of Directors of Texas Instruments Alere Inc. and as a member of President Obama's Advanced Manufacturing Partnership. Mr. MacMillan is now a member of the boards of Boston Scientific and AdvaMed (the clinical device industry's trade association). He graduated from Davidson College with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and is a graduate of Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program. He is married and has four children."
