About Stephen Mansfield
Stephen Mansfield Biography
Stephen Mansfield is a New York Times best-selling author and prominent speaker who works with leaders all around the world. Due to his father's profession as an officer in the United States Army, he spent much of his childhood in Europe. Following a childhood filled with athletics, travel, and mischief, he went to college in the United States and received a bachelor's degree in history and philosophy. He spent the following decade in Texas, where he earned two master's degrees, had a radio show, and established a reputation as a speaker with both depth and wit. He relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1991 to join the leadership team of one of the country's largest megachurches. He swiftly rose to the position of senior pastor, a position he held for eleven years. During that period, he got a degree, worked with Kurds in Kurdistan, and counseled a number of national officials. During these years, he also began his literary career, for which he is today well-known globally. His debut book, about Winston Churchill, was a finalist for the Gold Medallion Award. He also published well praised biographies of Booker T. Washington and George Whitefield, as well as a number of other volumes on history and leadership. Tennessee's governor commissioned Mansfield to write the official history of religion in Tennessee for the state's bicentennial in 1997. Stephen chose to devote his entire life to writing, lecturing, and training leaders in 2002. Soon after, he published The Faith of George W. Bush, which made the New York Times best-seller list twice and garnered other national honors. The book served as the inspiration for Oliver Stone's blockbuster film W, which portrayed Bush's journey to the president. This international best-seller spawned a slew of noteworthy works over the next decade. After serving with US troops in Iraq in 2005, Mansfield published The Faith of the American Soldier. In Benedict XVI: His Life and Mission, he also wrote on Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger's ascension to the pope. During the 2008 presidential campaign, his book The Faith of Barack Obama became another worldwide best-seller and drew widespread media attention in the United States and across the world. Mansfield published The Search for God and Guinness in 2009, eager to challenge American firms to greater social good, which immediately put him in demand as a speaker to business executives. He has now expanded his writing career with novels about people as disparate as Abraham Lincoln and Oprah Winfrey. Killing Jesus is such a gritty, powerfully worded depiction of Jesus Christ's death that Publisher Weekly deemed it brilliant. He tells the interesting narrative of the Kurds in his latest book, The Miracle of the Kurds. Mansfield, who lived among them and knew them as friends, talks of their brilliance as well as their severe hardships. It's an incredible narrative of optimism revived in Northern Iraq. Manfield's prominence as a speaker has virtually surpassed his renown as an author in recent years. He frequently lectures about leadership, historical lessons, and the factors that affect current society. His remarks are historically rich and filled with a charming sense of humour. He has lectured at Harvard and the United States Military Academy, as well as many of America's premier firms and executive leadership meetings across the world. Mansfield's present dedication to coaching senior executives stems from his personal leadership experience, study, and many years of mentoring leaders. He has worked with political leaders, educators, business executives, writers, and media figures to develop their leadership abilities, improve their communication skills, and expand their global effect. Mansfield and his wife Beverly, an award-winning singer and producer, split their time between Nashville and Washington, DC.
