Stephen Greenblatt is Cogan University Professor of the Humanities at Harvard University. Tyrant: Shakespeare on Politics; The Rise and Fall of Adam and Eve; The Swerve: How the World Became Modern; Shakespeare's Freedom; Will in the World: How Shakespeare Became Shakespeare; Hamlet in Purgatory; Marvelous Possessions; and Renaissance Self-Fashioning are among his fourteen works. He is the General Editor of The Norton Anthology of English Literature and The Norton Anthology of World Literature. Shakespeare has changed seven types of analysis and is the founding editor of the journal Representations. His honors include the Norwegian Parliament's Holberg Prize in 2016, the Pulitzer Prize in 2012, and the National Book Award in 2011. James Russell Lowell Award of the MLA (twice) Cabot Fellowship at Harvard University the Mellon Foundation's Distinguished Humanist Award The William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theater is given by Yale University's Wilbur Cross Medal. the Erasmus Institute Prize, two Guggenheim Fellowships, and the University of California Berkeley's Distinguished Teaching Award. The Adorno Lectures in Frankfurt, the University Lectures at Princeton, and the Clarendon Lectures at Oxford are among his named address arrangements, and he has held visiting residencies at colleges in Beijing, Kyoto, London, Paris, Florence, Torino, Trieste, and Bologna, as well as the Renaissance residency at the American Academy in Rome. He was the president of the Modern Language Association of America and a member of the Berlin Institute for Advanced Study. He has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the American Philosophical Society, and the Accademia degli Arcadi, an Italian artistic institution.
