Srdja Popovic was one of the founders and primary organizers of the Otpor! Otpor! movement to topple Serbian President Slobodan Milosovic, which was successful in October 2000 when hundreds of thousands of demonstrators descended on and took over the Serbian Parliament, officially ending Milosevic's administration.
Popovic was a member of the Serbian National Assembly from 2000 until 2003 after the revolution. Popovic and other ex-Otpor! activists founded the Centre for Applied Nonviolent Action and Strategies in 2003 as a non-profit educational organization (CANVAS).
