Spud Webb Biography

Spud Webb is a former NBA player most recognized for being one of the league's smallest players. He attended Midland Junior College after being rejected by all Division 1-A schools. He led his Midland team to the junior college national championship in 1982. He was finally spotted by North Carolina State, who granted him a scholarship. He was instrumental in their NCAA tournament run to the Sweet 16. He signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Hawks after not being picked in the NBA. He went on to play in the NBA for 12 years, spending time with the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Orlando Magic. Apart from being one of the smallest players in NBA history, he is also the shortest player to compete in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He joined the competition in 1986 and went on to win it.
