Sonia Jackson Myles Biography

Sonia Jackson Myles is the founder of the Sister Accord Movement and the author of The Sister Accord: 51 Ways to LOVE Your Sister. Sonia is from Saginaw, Michigan. She earned a BS in Business Administration (1989) and an MBA in Marketing from Floriday AM University (FAMU) (1990). Sonia was a corporate executive with over 20 years of experience before beginning her Sister Accord company full-time. She has previously worked for Ford Motor Company, Gillette Company, and Procter & Gamble Company. Her most recent business position was as PG Director, Global Packaging Purchases, where she was in charge of $6 billion in spending. Sonia was recognized a Women of Power by Essence Magazine in 2008, a Bloomberg Report History Maker in 2009, and a Trumpet Award Foundation Women in High Heels in 2010. In 2011, Sonia was honored into the FAMU School of Business and Industry Hall of Fame and designated one of Black Enterprise Magazine's Top Executives in Marketing and Advertising. Sonia was recognized one of FAMU's 125 Outstanding Alumni in 2012, in honor of the University's 125th anniversary, and received The Gillete Legacy Award. Sonia received an Exemplary Achievement Award from the State of Ohio Senate for her book, The Sister Accord: 51 Ways to LOVE Your Sister, and was nominated for a 2013 NAACP Image Award in the Debut Author category. Sonia got the YMCA Champion of Character Award in 2014. Sonia was voted BCWN Woman of the Year in 2015. Sonia earned The Torch of Wisdom Foundation Community Enrichment Award in 2016 when her Sister Accord Leadership Development Program was introduced into The Cincinnati Public School System's curriculum. There has never been a leadership development program for girls in the district prior to this collaboration. Sonia is the founder, President, and CEO of The Sister Accord Foundation, which focuses on three areas: educating girls and women, educating girls and women about the power of sisterhood, and eliminating bullying and violence against girls and women. She is now the Chari for the FAMU School of Business Industry Advisory Board. Sonia also serves on the boards of The Impact Young Lives Foundation, which promotes leadership development among South African youth, and Fresh Start Beverage Company. Sonia is an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. member. Her credo is "There is always a seat at the table for greatness," and she encourages others to focus on becoming outstanding.
