Sleeper Agent Biography

Sleeper Agent is a Bowling Green, Kentucky-based American rock band. Celabrasion, their debut album, was released on September 27, 2011, following its digital release in August. Prior to the publication of the album, Rolling Stone magazine named the band one to watch. After a few disappointing appearances as a musical duet, guitarist Tony Smith and drummer Justin Wilson discovered the teenage Alex Kandel working as a barista and playing Adele songs on open mic evenings and hired her as a vocalist. The band's current lineup was formed following the addition of Williams Gardner and Martin. They were spotted a short time later by producer Jay Joyce, who encouraged them to record their first LP Celabrasion, which was released on iTunes on August 2, 2011, followed by a vinyl release on September 27, the same year. In late July/early August of that year, the first song from the album Get It Daddy was featured as iTunes' Free Single of the Week. In late 2011, Sleeper Agent toured with Cage the Elephant. In January 2012, they were asked to perform on The Weezer Cruise, with musical bands such as Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, and Wavves. Sleeper Agent went on to support Fun. from February 29th to March 11th of 2012. Singer Alex Kandel was also nominated for a position on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine in the Women Who Rock competition.
