Skylar Astin is a singer and actor from the United States. He is most known for his portrayal as Georg in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Spring Awakening, as well as his parts in the films Hamlet 2, Taking Woodstock, Pitch Perfect, and 21 Over. Astin was born in New York City and raised in Rockland County. He was a student at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University but took a leave of absence when cast in Spring Awakening. His agency used his middle name Astin as his stage name when he was 15 years old. Astin took on the part of Mark Cohen in a performance of Rent directed by Neil Patrick Harris at the Hollywood Bowl on August 6"8 2010. In the film Hamlet 2, Astin portrayed Rand Posin. He sang Raped in the Face on the soundtrack alongside his co-star in the film, Phoebe Strole, and the film's star, Steve Coogan. Astin appeared in the Adam Carolla sitcom Ace in the Hole on CBS in 2009, however the show was not renewed. In 2010, he joined the cast of Fox's Strange Brew, a Jere Burns sitcom that was not picked up. Astin guest-starred as Ben in the July 2011 episode of Love Bites titled Boys to Men and as Matt Kornstein in the May 2012 episode of Girls entitled Hannah's Diary. On House, he also portrayed a patient.
