Shiri Appleby was born on December 7, 1978, in Los Angeles, California, to Dina (Bouader), a Hebrew School teacher, and Jerry Appleby, a telecommunications executive. Evan is her brother. Her father is of Ashkenazi Jewish origin, while her Israeli mother is of Moroccan Sephardi Jewish descent. Shiri has been acting since she was four years old, appearing in ads for Cheerios, M&Ms, and Taco Bell. Her debut television appearance was on the soap opera Santa Barbara (1984). Following that, he appeared in Thirtysomething (1987), The Bronx Zoo (1987), and Doogie Howser, M.D. (1989). Her cinematic debut was in the low-budget sequel Curse II: The Bite (1989).
