Sheryl Underwood is a comedian, actor, and television personality from the United States. She rose to notoriety in the comedy industry after being the first female finalist in the 1989 Miller Lite Comedy Search. Underwood is now one of the anchors of the CBS Daytime talk show The Talk, a position she has held since September 2011. She joined the military after graduating from college. She rose to prominence after becoming the first female finalist in the Miller Lite Comedy Search in 1989. She received the BET Comedy Awards' platinum Mic Viewers Choice Award in 2005 and the BET Comedy Awards' "Funniest Female Comedian on Comic View" award in 1994. Following her breakthrough in stand-up comedy, Underwood landed a few minor acting parts, including Bad Mouth Bessie in I Got the Hook Up in 1998 and Catfish Rita in Beauty Shop in 2005. Underwood hosted BET's Comic View and was the executive producer and presenter of the short-lived comedy/variety series Holla (September 2002-January 2003). Underwood was a contributor on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show until June 2010, when she left to join The Steve Harvey Morning Show. Sheryl Underwood and Company, her own radio show, was temporarily broadcast on Radio One-owned Syndication One News/Talk and XM Satellite Radio's Channel 169. (The Power ). Underwood broadcasts The Sheryl Underwood Show on Jamie Foxx's Sirius Satellite Radio station, The Foxxhole, on Tuesday nights (Sirius 106). Underwood joined the CBS Daytime talk show The Talk in its second season in 2011, replacing Leah Remini.
