Shemar Moore Biography

Moore attended Gunn High School in Palo Alto before attending Santa Clara University and majoring in communications. He modeled to pay his bills while obtaining his college degree. Moore spent eight years on The Young and the Restless as Malcolm Winters. He returned to the program in November 2004 despite originally intending to depart, but after a few months he went back to recurring status and left in September 2005. From 1999 to 2003, he hosted the syndicated edition of Soul Train and participated in the feature film The Brothers. From 2002 to 2003, he played Detective Jesse Reese in the television series Birds of Prey. Moore co-starred with Vivica Fox and Golden Brooks in the 2004 film Motives as Emery Simms, and she had a supporting part in Diary of a Mad Black Woman. In the romantic comedy The Seat Filler, he played the lover of Kelly Rowland's character. Moore was cast as Derek Morgan in the criminal drama in 2005. He was a regular on the program until 2017, when it was revealed that he will be appearing in CBS's new series.
