Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, also known professionally as Shakira, rose to prominence in the country's and Latin America's music scenes in the middle of the 1990s. Shakira speaks the native language of Spanish, as well as well-known forms of English, Portuguese, Italian, French, and Arabic.

Before releasing her presentation collection "Pies Descalzos" in 1996, Shakira released two limited edition albums in 1990, "Magia," and 1993, "Peligro." It debuted at No. 1 in the other eight countries before selling 5 million copies and receiving platinum certification in the US. In addition, the compilation produced six singles, including Estoy Aqui's "Where are you, Corazon?
