Shabana Basij-Rasikh is the founder and executive director of the School of Leadership Afghanistan, a nonprofit organization that helps young women obtain an education abroad and jobs at home. It is Afghanistan's primary inclusive school for young women. He was raised in Kabul.
After completing his secondary education in the US, Basij-Rasikh attended Middlebury College, where he received his degree in 2011. She founded HELA, a nonprofit organization that supports Afghan women through education. She donated funds to construct a secondary school for young women in her ancestral town and wells on the outskirts of Kabul.
