Sebastien Roy Biography

Sebastien D. Roy was sent to the Canadian Consulate General in Detroit in September 2014 to serve as the consul and trade commissioner for Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. In the course of his work, he assists US-based companies with their expansion and speculative ventures in Canada by providing sources of critical market insight, key government contacts, and contacts drawn to help speculative ventures with data and advice on specific projects available in Canada, as well as assistance from site visits. Sebastien also encourages R&D partnerships over the periphery since he believes they are an essential driver of scientific and technological advancement, hastening the speed of discovery and enhancing commercialization for US and Canadian businesses. In 2000, Sebastian started working for the Department of Foreign Affairs Trade and Development. He most recently held the positions of First Secretary and Consul (Consular/Management) in Kabul, Afghanistan. He served as a Director in the Inspection and Special Investigation Divisions from 2010 to 2013, overseeing program implementation throughout Canadian Missions overseas and making recommendations for improvements. Before that, Sebastien worked in management roles for the Canadian Visa Security and Integrity Program and had venture management and company investigation positions.
