The Girl at the Lion d'Or Birdsong and Charlotte Gray, two of his recorded novels with a French setting, are his most well-known works. On April 20, 1953, Sebastian Faulks was born in Donnington, a Berkshire town adjacent to Newbury. He was Peter Faulks' (1917–1998) and Pamela née Lawless' (1917–1998) younger child (1923-2003).
Dwindle Faulks worked as a sidekick at Pitman and Bazett, a local legal firm. In 1939, he had obstructed his legal preparation to enlist in the Duke of Wellington's infantry unit, which was headquartered in Yorkshire.
