About Scott McNealy
Scott McNealy Biography
In 1982, Scott McNealy helped start Sun Microsystems, Inc. He spent 22 years as Sun's CEO and chairman of the board of directors. Throughout his time at Sun, McNealy oversaw the company's open network computing innovation and helped Sun go from a start-up in Silicon Valley to a preeminent supplier of network computing infrastructure with more than 30,000 staff members globally. He went public with the business in 1986, becoming one of the most recognizable publicly listed technology businesses while presenting Sun as the epitome of business ethics. McNealy is one of the most well-known and frequently mentioned executives in the complicated and rapidly evolving IT sector, whose vision and commercial savvy have elevated him to this position. The Network is the Computer, his catchphrase for network computing, contributed to the industry's evolution. This idea, known as cloud computing, directed technology development in the twenty-first century. Wayin will start in October 2011, as McNealy just stated, in his next inventive endeavor. Wayin is a novel mobile engagement solution that links customers and business partners wherever and whenever they want. Wayin, which provides a fun and entertaining way for users and business partners to post photos, ask questions, play live games, share results, and spark conversation among friends, customers, and people around the world with similar interests, is run by McNealy, who also serves as the company's chairman and lead investor. With his ongoing support of open and competitive business methods and dedication to education, McNealy is still well-known. This inspired Sun to start the Global Education & Learning Community (GELC) in March 2004 to use open source to make lifelong learning accessible to all students, regardless of where they reside. In 2006, GELC was separated as Curriki, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The organization's name is a pun on the words "curriculum" and "wiki." The Next Generation Wiki application developed in Java and distributed under the LGPL open-source license, XWiki, serves as the foundation for Curriki.
