Scott Leysath Biography

During the latter half of the 1980s, Scott Leysath gained a reputation as the foremost authority on the proper presentation of fish and game. In 1987, Leysath expanded on a corporate café and started his restaurant in Sacramento, California. He invited athletes to pick up their stored fish and game in addition to the inventive fish and game items on the daily menu so he could serve them fish and play the way it should taste. His catering business, Silver Sage Caterers, was inspired by his reputation for outstanding fish and game preparation. Over more than ten years, Silver Sage Caterers has provided top-notch meals to Northern California hunting organizations like Ducks Unlimited, California Waterfowl Association, National Wild Turkey Federation, Mule Deer Federation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Safari Club International. Although Scott is currently not particularly active in the culinary world, his colleague Greg Cornell has successfully maintained Silver Sage in Northern California. Scott regularly donates to several external causes. He is the author of a well-known cookbook and has two new books coming out in 2006. He spent four years as Paul James' guest on HGTV's Home Grown Cooking. Scott authored, organized, and supervised the culinary segments of the show when he wasn't in front of the camera offering advice on cooking or making plans for meals. Now, the renowned program airs Monday through Friday on the Do-It-Yourself Network (DIY). Around the country, he appears on open-air-related TV and radio initiatives. He received widespread acclaim for his Sports Chef TV program, earning two Excellence in Craft Awards from the Southeastern Outdoor News Association.
