Scott Hamilton Biography

Olympic gold medallist and retired American professional skater Scott Hamilton. He won four consecutive U.S. championships (1981–1984), four consecutive World Championships (1981–1984), and an Olympic gold medal in 1984. The 1981 U.S. Championships were where Hamilton's progression execution took place. A few seconds before the demonstration ended, the crowd applauded wildly in response to his flawless performance. He never again suffered a novice defeat. He took home the gold at the World Figure Skating Championships in 1981. He won gold in the U.S. and World Championships again in 1982 and 1983. He also won the gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics. He won the World Championships that year, and in April 1984, he attained proficiency. After becoming competent, Hamilton spent a lot of time performing with the Ice Capades before launching Scott Hamilton's American Tour, which was eventually renamed Stars on Ice. Before leaving the tour in 2001, he contributed to its establishment, co-delivered, and performed in Stars on Ice for a long time (however, he, although everything, returns for periodic visitor exhibitions). He was the first single male professional skater to get the Jacques Favart Prize, among other accolades for his skating (in 1988). He was inducted into the American Olympic Hall of Fame in 1990.
