Scott Dodson Biography

Scott Dodson left his position as a teacher at Rice University and the Duke University School of Law in 2000. (B.A. Biology 1996). Professor Dodson worked as a law clerk for the Hon. WHEN HE FINISHED GRADUATE SCHOOL, Nicholas G. Garaufis was on the U.S. Locale Court for the Eastern District of New York. Professor Scott Dodson, an expert in common law and government courts, has written more than 35 papers that have appeared in the Stanford Law Review. Detroit Law Review, the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, California Law Review, the Virginia Law Review, Vanderbilt Law Review, and Northwestern University Law Review. He is the author or editorial director of three books: Civil Procedure: Model Issues and Remarkable Solutions; The Legacy of Ruth Bader Ginsburg; and Modern Pleading in the Twenty-First Century (Oxford 2011 2d ed. 2012). The Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Nine, Tenth, and Eleventh Circuits have all cited his works. In addition to blogging at SCOTUSblog, SCOCAblog, Civil Process and Federal Courts Blog, and PrawfsBlawg, educator Dodson is a frequent commentator in various news outlets. In addition, he has contributed to or produced several amicus papers while the Supreme Court was watching. Before joining UC Hastings, Professor Dodson held a permanent staff position at the University of Arkansas School of Law from 2006–2009 and at William & Mary Law School from 2009–2012. Professor Dodson was a visiting associate professor at the Duke University School of Law for the fall 2008 semester.
