As the founder and Executive Director of the Freelancers Union and the CEO of the nonprofit Freelancers Insurance Company (FIC), Sara has spent over two decades assisting workers in finding solutions to their issues. Sara, a MacArthur Foundation Genius fellow, has long been a prominent advocate for the developing economy. She was among the first to see the need for independent workers in a networked, linked society. Now, 42 million Americans, or nearly one-third of the workforce, work independently. Freelancers Union is creating a new type of unionism with more than 246k members countrywide by developing innovative, cooperative, market-based solutions to critical social issues.
