He received his education at Cambridge University and earned his legal degree at Ashursts in London, where he focused on private equity. He joined the venture capital company 3i in 1996 and worked on various tech venture capital and conventional leveraged acquisitions. He was awarded the Chris Hill Award in 2000 at Strathclyde for being the top overall MBA student.
