Actress Samantha Sam Eggar is from England. When she was younger, she attended an art school, and after that, she was admitted to London's Webber Douglas School for Theatre. Before completing the two-year curriculum at Webber Douglas, she was invited to portray Lady Hamilton in a play created by renowned photographer Cecil Beaton. After doing more work, she then participated in classic performances of Shakespeare and Chekhov. In her debut performance, A Midsummer Night's Dream, she shared the stage alongside Albert Finney, Lynn Redgrave, David Warner, and other up-and-coming actors. Filmmaker Betty Box saw Sam onstage at the Royal Court Theatre and decided to cast her in her debut picture, The Wild and the Willing. John Hurt and Ian McShane, who were just 19 years old, were cast members. These were British comedies and dramas starring Dirk Bogarde and James Robertson Justice. Sam received an Academy Award nomination for his performance in William Wyler's The Collector at 25. Wyler, a renowned perfectionist, was confident that the fiery redhead would be able to embody Miranda Grey in every way he desired. Samantha took on the task head-on and delivered a five-star performance that launched her acting career. She went on to win the Palme d'Or Best Actress Award at Cannes and a Golden Globe for the movie.
