He studied English at Michigan State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree. He teamed up with his brother's roommate Robert Tapert to collect money for a low-budget horror film while at Michigan State University. After the success of The Evil Dead, he began production on his second picture, Crimewave. Raimi went into other genres in the 1990s, directing films including A Simple Plan and For Love of the Game. Raimi's blockbuster Spider-Man, which was based on the comic book series of the same name, was a commercial triumph. Raimi has also worked in television, producing shows like Xena: Warrior Princess, which starred his younger brother Ted Raimi and long-time friend Bruce Campbell, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and Jack of All Trades, among others.
