Sam Nazarian, founder, chairman, and CEO of SBA, has been a driving force in modernizing hospitality thanks to his unwavering business understanding and sense of flair. In under ten years, Nazarian has established "the scene" in Los Angeles and beyond, transforming SBE into the creative hub for some of the most coveted premium lifestyle brands in North America, including SLS Hotels and Casinos, Katsuya by Starck, The Bazaar by José Andrés, and Hyde Lounge. Nazarian's career in the IT sector started with a wireless firm he co-founded and subsequently sold after driving its explosive development and record sales. In 2001, Nazarian effectively diversified his family's assets into real estate interests in almost every market segment, which allowed him to start honing his skills in hospitality and development. Nazarian noticed a need for a new approach to hospitality during this time in his career, a process that would profoundly alter the sector in the future. With the opening of SBE's first nightclub in 2003, Nazarian has transformed the privately owned company into the undisputed leader in luxury with a portfolio that features some of the world's most prestigious and exclusive hospitality and lifestyle venues. Nazarian collaborated with chefs José Andrés and Katsuya Uechi and internationally renowned designers Philippe Starck and Matthew Rolston to produce SBE's award-winning portfolio. A "who's who" of financial organizations, including Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, Credit Suisse, Lowe Enterprises, Colony Capital, and Stockbridge Real Estate Funds, have expressed interest in Nazarian's commercial insight and innovative ideas. Nazarian was among the youngest executives to be included in the "Top 100 Most Powerful Persons in Southern California" by West, the Los Angeles Times magazine and was most recently selected to Fortune's 40 Under 40 2014 List. Along with being listed among "The Influentials" in Los Angeles Magazine, Nazarian most recently received the Mondavi Wine & Food award and was recognized as the "Hotelier of the Year" by HotelChatter.com for two consecutive years. He generously supports the Beverly Hills Education Foundation and serves on the board of directors of the Southern California Institute of Architecture. Nazarian was named to the Board of Airport Commissioners of Los Angeles World Airports by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in July 2009. Nazarian splits his time between houses in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, and Miami. He attended New York University and the University of Southern California for academic training.
