Salil Dudani worked on civil rights issues against money bail and debtors' prisons as a John Gardner Public Service fellow. These cases included those in Ferguson, Missouri, where those unable to pay court fees and fines were frequently imprisoned; Rutherford County, Tennessee, where a private probation company would threaten to imprison those on probation who did not bear; and San Francisco and Houston, where thousands of people spend every night in jail cells due to their inability to post bail. Before beginning this job, Salil was a defense investigator with the Public Defender Service in Washington, D.C.; He is presently a student at Yale Law School.
