Sakina Ibrahim Biography

Beginning with the Community Dance Enrichment Program, Sakina Ibrahim started dancing. She won substantial prizes like the Excellence in Performance and Dance Outreach Award thanks to her commitment to artistic excellence and education. Sakina has been awarded training scholarships at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and the Bates Dance Festival at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. While serving as the Program Coordinator for Jill Scott's Blues Babe Foundation, Sakina secured her first professional position. As we hosted some of our events in the Cecil B. Moore Recreation Center, I discovered that Jill Scott was filming a DVD there. Because I didn't want any favors, I asked my UArts ballet instructor for a reason to miss class, and I went to the audition with Troy Kirby, a well-known Hollywood choreographer. The Fall of the Kings Rennie Harris (Rhaw), Bayside the Musical (Off-Broadway), Cancer Pimp (Aspire TV), and others are among Sakina's stage credits.
