Ryan Stiles Biography

Ryan Stiles left school early to focus on his comedic career. He performed stand-up comedy at Punchlines Comedy Club in Vancouver, British Columbia, and improvised humor with the Vancouver Theatre Sports League to support himself while working in his father's fish processing company. Ryan was a regular on the program from 1993 to 1998, and the program's brief production run allowed him to appear on other US television and film productions. He portrayed Lewis Kiniski, the best friend and underachiever of Drew. Carey convinced ABC to develop an American edition of Whose Line? in 1998. When the British version's last series aired in 1998, the American version debuted with Stiles and Carey listed as executive producers. Every episode of the American series, which ran until 2003, featured Stiles. Yet, new episodes kept airing for many years after that.
