Ron Shapiro is an expert negotiator, sports agent, attorney, educator, New York Times Bestselling Author, and civic leader who graduated with honors from Haverford College and Harvard Law School in 1967. He began teaching law school in 1968 after coming to Baltimore for a federal clerkship in 1967. Mr. Shapiro was the Maryland State Securities Commissioner from 1972 to 1974, earning a reputation as one of the most competitive state investment authorities in the country. Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler, a major Baltimore law practice, was founded by him in 1972. Mr. Shapiro's second book, BULLIES, TYRANTS, AND IMPOSSIBLE PEOPLE: HOW TO BEAT THEM WITHOUT JOINING THEM, was named to the Wall Street Journal's Best Seller List in June 2005. Mr. Shapiro's third book, DARE TO PREPARE: HOW TO WIN BEFORE YOU BEGIN, was named the winner of the National Best Books 2008 Awards and the 2009 Axiom Business Book Awards. It was published by Crown Business imprint of Random House in January 2008 and made the New York Times, Business Week, and Wall Street Journal Best Seller Lists. Mr. Shapiro also co-authored volumes on business and securities law, created Maryland's largest bar review school, and started a legal publishing company. He was recognized for his teaching quality at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland School of Law, and the University of Baltimore School of Law. Mr. Shapiro was designated the University of Pennsylvania Law School's Edward B. Shils Lecturer in Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution in 1996.
