Rob Long Biography

A Yale University graduate, Rob Long is an Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated screenwriter and producer. He began his career writing for the TV show Cheers in 1990, eventually becoming an executive producer in 1992, when the show won two Emmys and two Golden Globes. After Cheers ended in 1993, Long formed a TV production company with fellow Cheers collaborator Dan Staley. They created several shows, including "George & Leo," "Love & Money," and "Men, Women & Dogs." In addition to showing creation work, Long and Staley also served as creative consultants on numerous shows. In addition, long wrote a political satire column for National Review titled Letters from Al, written anonymously from the perspective of Vice President Al Gore to his friend Rusty in a Brazilian rainforest. The letters occasionally featured insider information and humorous speculation on public controversies, and Long's identity as the author was revealed only after the end of the Clinton presidency.
