Lieutenant Colonel Rick Francona, a retired U.S. Air Force intelligence officer, served with the National Security Agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the Central Intelligence Agency. He has extensive experience in the Middle East, having served in Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia, and traveled operationally throughout the region. Rick played a critical role in discovering Iraqi chemical weapons use against Iranian troops while serving as a liaison officer to the Iraqi armed forces intelligence service during the Iran-Iraq War. During the Gulf War, he also served as the personal interpreter and advisor in Iraq to General Norman Schwarzkopf. He was involved in attempting to overthrow Saddam Hussein in the 1990s. Rick is a Middle East military analyst for NBC News and has spoken at numerous conventions and educational institutions. His book, "Ally to Adversary," details his experiences with the Iraqis, from working with them in Baghdad to fighting them in Desert Storm.
