Dr. William Rick Burgess, was born on October 3, 1964 in Birmingham, Alabama, to modest Southern parents and was raised in a Christian home. He attended Jacksonville State University and the goals he had were to study communications and he got the chance to meet his future co-host Bill “Bubba” Bussey. After college, the two of them started their radio career in a small station in Gadsden, Alabama, and launched the Rick & Bubba Show in 1994. The program, which humor, faith, and conservative policies were combined to host the show and the show was recently syndicated nationally to reach millions of listeners across the United States. Rick’s career was not only limited to radio since he started to speak in churches, conferences and corporate events and share lessons learned from my own life, including the nearly fatal car accident that left me with a broken back and neck, a shattered hip, and multiple internal injuries. He and his wife, Sherri, established The Burgess Ministry to help other families going through the same tragedy, offering grief counseling and spiritual direction. Most of the books that Rick has written together with Bubba have a humorous approach but at the same time, the author(s) try to convey some valuable lessons for people’s lives. He has also once again shown people that he is not only a television personality but also a man who is not afraid to admit his failures, including the time he struggled through the grief process. Some of his affiliations include working with focus on the family, a faith-based organization and appearing on television programs such as TBN and Daystar. Rick Burgess is married to Sherri Burgess and they have five children, we unfortunately lost our son Bronner in 2008. Rick and his wife reside in Birmingham, Alabama and are very involved in their church.
