Richard D. Parsons is a senior adviser at Providence Equity Partners, a private equity investment firm specializing in media, communications, and information companies. He also serves as Chairman of the Board for Citigroup, Inc. Before his current roles, he was Chairman and CEO of Time Warner, the world's largest media and entertainment company, from 2002 to 2008. Parsons was recognized as the top CEO in the entertainment industry by Institutional Investor magazine in 2005. He has also served as Chairman and CEO of Dime Bancorp and managing partner of the New York law firm Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler. In addition, Parsons has held various positions in state and federal government, including serving as counsel for Nelson Rockefeller and as a senior White House aide under President Gerald Ford. He received his education from the University of Hawaii and Union University's Albany Law School. Parsons has served on various non-profit boards, including Chairman Emeritus of the Partnership for New York City, Chairman of the Apollo Theatre Foundation and Jazz Foundation of America, and board member for the Museum of Modern Art and the American Museum of Natural History. In 2008, he served on President-Elect Barack Obama's Economic Transition Team.
