Richard Barth Biography

Richard Barth is the president and CEO of the KIPP Foundation, a national network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools. Under his leadership, KIPP has grown from 45 to 200 schools, serving over 80,000 students, and has expanded its leadership development programs. Before joining KIPP, Barth served as the President of District Partnerships at Edison Schools, managing partnerships serving over 40,000 students. He also served as a founding staff member of Teach For America. Barth holds a BA in American History from Harvard University and is an Aspen Institute-NewSchools Fellow. He currently sits on the board of directors of The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems and Be the Change, Inc., and is the KIPP Foundation board of directors president. Barth has been named a Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur of the Year and Harvard University’s Chief Marshal for 2014. He lives in New York with his family.
