Ram Shriram is an Indian-American entrepreneur and investor. He was born in Chennai, India, and later moved to the United States to pursue his studies. Shriram graduated from the University of Madras with a degree in Mathematics. He later earned his MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. Shriram began his career at Netscape Communications Corporation in 1994, serving as a founding board member and being instrumental in developing the company. He later became a general partner at Sherpalo Ventures, a venture capital firm he founded in 2000. As an investor, Shriram has worked with several successful startups, including Google, where he was one of the first investors and served on the board of directors for several years. He has also served on the boards of other companies, including Plaxo, Zazzle, and 24/7 Customer. Shriram is known for his philanthropic work, particularly in education. He is a founding board member of the Indian School of Business and has supported several other educational institutions. In addition, he serves on the board of trustees for the American India Foundation. He has worked to promote entrepreneurship in India.
