Rajiv Laroia is an Indian-American engineer and inventor best known for his contributions to developing the 4G wireless technology, specifically for inventing the key technology known as Space-Time Coding (STC). STC is a technique that allows the transmission of multiple data streams simultaneously, resulting in faster and more efficient wireless communications. His work on STC has significantly contributed to developing wireless communication networks and has been widely adopted in the industry. Laroia earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, India. He later moved to the United States to pursue a graduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, San Diego. After earning his Ph.D., he joined Qualcomm in 1992, where he worked on developing wireless communication technologies. Laroia has received numerous awards and recognition for his work, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Eric E.
