Rachel Buehler is an American soccer defender who currently plays for the United States women's national team. She was born on August 26, 1985, in Del Mar, California. Buehler, along with Nicole Barnhart and Leslie Osborne, was one of three players of the 2008 Beijing Gold Medal squad sent to the brand new Santa Clara, California club FC Gold Pride on September 16, 2008. The seventh and last team announced in 2008 to participate in the first season of Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) the following year was FC Gold Pride, led by former San Jose Clash midfielder Albertin Montoya. Buehler has represented the United States at the U-16 and U-17 levels and was a part of the first-place team at the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship in Canada in 2002 and the third-place squad at the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship in Thailand in 2004. She began practicing with the National Squad in July 2006 and made her national team debut in March 2008 at the Algarve Cup in Portugal. On June 23, 2008, Buehler was named to the 2008 United States Olympic Women's Soccer Team. She participated in two games and contributed one assist.
