Rabih Alameddine is a Lebanese-American novelist, essayist, and artist. After the Lebanese Civil War outbreak in 1975, Alameddine moved to the United States and eventually settled in San Francisco, where he currently resides. Alameddine has written several novels, including "Koolaids: The Art of War" (1998), "The Hakawati" (2008), and "An Unnecessary Woman" (2014), which was a finalist for the National Book Award. He has also published a book of essays, "The Perv" (1999). He has been featured in publications such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, and The Guardian. In addition to his writing, Alameddine is an accomplished artist, with exhibitions of his paintings and sculptures held in galleries worldwide. He has also taught creative writing at the University of San Francisco. He has been a guest lecturer at numerous universities and literary festivals.
