Priscilla Warner Biography

Priscilla Warner was born and raised in Rhode Island, a state founded by Roger Williams, a religious freedom advocate. Her parents enrolled her in a Hebrew Day school, where she was taught Torah, Jewish history, and Hebrew. They then enrolled her in a Quaker school, where she attended silent meetings, sung hymns in the chapel, and sang Christmas songs to the infant Jesus every year. Priscilla spent many hours fishing with her father off the coast of Rhode Island, near the little villages of Galilee and Jerusalem, giving her plenty of opportunities to ponder, worry, and wonder about all of the important topics she subsequently asked Ranya and Suzanne in her Faith Club. Priscilla became an advertising art director after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, where she spent much of her days terrified of the big city and locked up in an art studio. She shot advertisements for everything from English muffins to diamond earrings. She met her spouse in Boston and subsequently moved to New York City with him, where she fell in love with the city. She began writing and illustrating children's books after being inspired by her two boys. Priscilla received a call after writing two dozen picture books, two novels, and two screenplays met with Ranya and Suzanne and had her first book published at the age of 53.
