Peter Rice is a British businessman who is the President of 21st Century Fox, Chairman and CEO of Fox Networks Group, Chairman of National Geographic Partners, and a member of the Board of Directors for Hulu. He graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1989. Rice began his career at Twentieth Century Fox in 1989 and worked through the ranks, holding positions such as Director of Acquisitions, Vice President of Production, and Senior Vice President. In 1998, Rice was named Executive Vice President of Production for Twentieth Century Fox, where he cultivated relationships with some of the most talented young filmmakers of the time. Rice's creative contributions to the film industry included overseeing the production of successful movies such as Independence Day, Alien: Resurrection, X-Men, and Moulin Rouge, which was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. He also worked with Baz Luhrmann on the modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In 2000, Rice joined Fox Searchlight Pictures as President and released some of the most critically acclaimed films of the decade, including Juno, The Last King of Scotland, Little Miss Sunshine, Sideways, and Napoleon Dynamite. With Rice at the helm, Fox Searchlight received 51 Academy Awards and 42 Golden Globe Award nominations, including a record of 12 nominations and eight wins for Slumdog Millionaire at the 81st Annual Academy Awards. Rice's experience in the entertainment industry led him to be appointed Chairman of Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting and later as Chairman of Fox Networks Group. Under his leadership, FOX was the number-one network for three consecutive seasons, extending its run on top to eight straight years. In 2012, Rice became the Chairman and CEO of Fox Networks Group, overseeing Fox Broadcasting Company, 20th Century Fox Television, FX Networks, FOX Sports, and National Geographic Partners. Under his leadership, Fox Networks Group received 144 Primetime and Sports Emmy nominations in 2016 and 153 Primetime and Sports Emmy nominations in 2017. Rice was appointed President of 21st Century Fox in 2017, where he continues to work on strategic initiatives for the company. He also remains Chairman and CEO of Fox Networks Group and Chairman of the Board of National Geographic Partners while serving on the Board of Directors for Hulu.
