Peter Cuneo Biography

Cuneo Capital Partners' Managing Partner is Peter. He is a well-known figure in the field of company turnarounds. Since 1983, he has executed seven distressed branded business turnarounds in the worldwide media and consumer products industries. Peter was a key figure in Marvel Entertainment Inc.'s turnaround from 1999 to 2009. (NYSE - MVL). He steered Marvel out of bankruptcy and into a prominent position in the entertainment industry as President and CEO. He later became Vice-Chairman of the Board, giving active leadership as Marvel developed to become one of the world's most recognizable entertainment companies, culminating in its $4 billion sales to Disney in 2009. Peter had previously worked for a big distressed and special circumstances hedge fund as a senior advisor. He worked on the firm's private investments and portfolio businesses in the consumer, entertainment, and media sectors, and he co-invested in a few companies, such as West World Media and Unifund. Peter was previously the President and Chief Executive Officer of Remington Products Company. He entered the company while it was on the verge of bankruptcy and turned it around in less than four years, facilitating its sale to private equity investors. Peter has also held the positions of President of Black & Decker Corporation's Security Hardware Group, President of Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Group in Canada, and President of Clairol Personal Care Group. During the Vietnam War, Peter served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy after completing his undergraduate degree. He has served on the boards of directors of many public and private firms, including Marvel Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: MVL), Iconix Brand Group (NASDAQ: ICON), West World Media (Private), and WaterPik Technologies Inc. (NYSE: PIK) and Remington Products Corporation (NYSE: RPC) (Private). Peter is now a member of the National Archives' board of directors in Washington, DC. He graduated from Harvard Business School with a master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in glass science (ceramic engineering) from Alfred University, where he has served on the Board of Trustees since 1990, now as Chairman.
