Peggy Wehmeyer is an American journalist who worked for seven years as an ABC news religion reporter before becoming the anchor and editor of the World Vision Report. Wehmeyer grew up in Barbados and Texas after being born in Oklahoma City. She is a pious Christian who is of German ancestry. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas in Austin. Wehmeyer worked in the Public Relations Department at Dallas Theological Seminary as a young lady. Mark Woods, her future husband, met her while she was working at DTS. With the help of Peter Jennings, she was hired by ABC News in 1994 as the first full-time religion reporter on a national news network, a position she held for seven years. Her stories were also broadcast on 20/20 and Good Morning America. Prior to joining ABC, she worked on the religion beat at WFAA-TV in Dallas.
