Nitin Nohria Biography

On July 1, 2010, Nitin Nohria was named the eleventh dean of Harvard Business School. He has previously served as the co-chair of the Leadership Initiative and as the Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Development and Head of the Organizational Behavior section. His studies focus on human motivation, leadership, and business change, and long-term success. He and Amanda Pepper worked with XPlane to create the Paths to Power film, with the goal of sparking a conversation on the value and necessity of leadership in tackling some of society's most urgent issues. Professor Nohria is the author of approximately 75 journal articles, book chapters, judgments, working papers, and notes, making him a prolific thinker. His most recent achievement is the Handbook of Leadership Theory and Practice, which brings together the most significant experts from areas as diverse as psychology, sociology, economics, and history to help create the academic discipline of leadership. Paths to Power: How Insiders and Outsiders Shaped American Business Leadership, which tells the story of how leaders from various backgrounds rose to prominence in American business, is one of his previous books. This is a supplementary volume to In Their Time, which relies on the experiences of some of America's finest corporate executives during the twentieth century.
