Nickelback is a Canadian rock band from Hanna, Alberta, established in 1995. Chad Kroeger, guitarist and main vocalist, Ryan Peake, guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist, Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair make up the band. Between 1995 and 2005, the band went through many drummer changes before settling on its present configuration, which was formed when Adair took over for Ryan Vikedal. Nickelback is one of Canada's most financially successful bands, with over 50 million records sold globally, making them the tenth best-selling music act of all time and the second best-selling foreign act in the United States of the 2000s, after The Beatles. They are the most successful rock band of the decade, according to Billboard, with their song How You Remind Me is the best-selling rock song of the decade and the fourth best-selling song of the decade. They were ranked number seven on Billboard's top artists of the decade list, and four of their albums were included in the top albums of the decade list. In 1999, the band signed with Roadrunner Records and re-released their previously self-released album The State. With the publication of their 2000 album The State, the band earned financial success, and with the release of their 2001 album Silver Side Up, they reached mainstream popularity. Following the release of Silver Side Up, the band released How You Remind Me, which became their greatest and most well-known song, reaching number one on both the American and Canadian charts at the same time. The band's fourth album, The Long Road, generated five songs and helped the band maintain national popularity with their breakthrough single Someday, which reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 on the Canadian Singles Chart. Following that, the band released All The Right Reasons, their most successful album to date, which generated three top ten singles and five top twenty hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including Photograph, Far Away, and Rockstar. The band's album Dark Horse was a commercial success, yielding eight songs, one of which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and two of which reached the top 20. The band's seventh album, Here and Now, was released in 2011, and it once again topped the charts. No Fixed Address, their eighth studio album, was released on November 17, 2014, and Feed the Machine, their ninth studio album, was published on June 16, 2017. Vancouver, British Columbia, is the band's home base. EMI Canada was the band's first domestic signing. They went on to get a deal with Roadrunner Records in the United States, which included global distribution. The band parted ways with EMI Canada for the release of their seventh album and secured a new domestic distribution agreement with Universal Music Canada.
