Nick Schifrin Biography

Nick Schifrin is a Special Correspondent at PBS NewsHour covering foreign affairs from Washington D.C with a focus on North Korea Russia and Iran. He has created week-long in-depth series for NewsHour from Russia Ukraine Nigeria Egypt Kenya Cuba Mexico and the Baltics. This spring he spent nearly two months in Russia to report the NewsHour's six-part series Inside Putin's Russia. Schifrin is also a mid-career master's student at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) concentrating in Strategic Studies. This fall he taught Advanced Multimedia to NYU journalism graduate students as an adjunct instructor. And he is a visiting fellow at the Clinton School of Public Service where he lectures and teaches a foreign policy class. He reported extensively on the Syrian war from Syria's Turkish Lebanese and Jordanian borders. And he arrived in Ukraine as violence peaked in Kiev and reported on the conflict in and annexation of Crimea. He won an Overseas Press Club award for his Gaza coverage and a National Headliners Award for his Ukraine coverage.
