Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is a worldwide famous Nigerian economist best known for her two stints as Nigeria's Finance Minister and her work at the World Bank, where she served as a Managing Director for several years (October 2007–July 2011). In 2006, she served as Nigeria's Foreign Minister for a short time. She presently works at Banque Lazard as a Senior Advisor.
Former World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz was suggested as a possible candidate for Okonjo-Iweala in 2007. In 2012, she was one of three contenders in the contest to succeed World Bank President Robert Zoellick, who was due to step down in June 2012.
