Mike Goodwin Biography

A seasoned speaker, leader and comedian known as Mike Goodwin with his signature bow tie, stands out in his style of comedy leaving audiences ranging from classy galas to corporate events inspired and laughing uncontrollably without using indecent words. Mike grew up in a somewhat dysfunctional family in Camden, South Carolina. At an early age, he learned how to use laughter to ease tension and pain and in the process, he developed an interest in comedy and used it as a coping mechanism throughout his childhood. Mike joined the United States Army after graduating from high school, where he served for 12 years; four years in active duty, and the remaining years as an ROTC cadet and commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. He became active on campus and honed his leadership skills while attending college at Lander University in Greenwood, SC, by hosting events, joining his fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi and serving as a campus ambassador. From the University of South Carolina, Mike earned a master’s degree in Education and worked in secondary and higher education before deciding to go after stand-up comedy full time. He’s able to connect with audiences from all classes because of his career and life experiences. His professionalism, wit and energetic personality, keeps him booked annually on stages home and abroad. Mike uses his abilities to merge leadership and laughter, to reach his goal of leaving people and places better than how he found them wherever he performs. He’s appeared on The Word Network, Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) and BET and in the 2015 Boston Comedy Festival, he was chosen as a participant and made it to the finals in the 2016 COZI TV comedy competition. Mike has performed and shared stages with other well known comedians such as Todd Berry, John Crist, Michael Jr and TJ Miller. He took part in the USO Europe Comedy Tour in 2017. He can be found honing his writing skills for digital media outlets and platforms when he isn’t performing on stage.
