Megan Mawicke Biography

Megan Mawicke, a Chicago native, is CBS 2 Chicago's weekend sports anchor. During the week, she works as a sports reporter for the channel. Mawicke joined CBS 2 Chicago in 2004 after working as a freelance sports anchor and reporter for WMAQ-TV since 2002. Mawicke previously worked for Fox Sports Net from 2000 to 2002, where he was responsible for three regions: Chicago, the Bay Area, and Ohio. She hosted multiple 30-minute episodes every day in that role. Mawicke also worked as a correspondent for the Bears and presented pre-and post-game shows for the Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, and Blackhawks. Mawicke formerly worked at WBAY-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin, as a sports anchor and reporter (1998-2000). She also co-hosted a one-hour live Green Bay Packers Monday Night Football kick-off broadcast. She worked as a production assistant at WMAQ-TV before that (1998). Mawicke began her television career as a freelance producer for ABC News during the Democratic National Convention and the Inauguration of President Barack Obama (1996-1997). She then worked as a reporter for WKYT-TV in Lexington, Ky., WIFR-TV in Rockford, Ill., and WHO-AM in Des Moines, Iowa, and Medill News Service in Washington, D.C. Mawicke has won four Big Ten Women's Tennis Team titles and two Illinois State Tennis titles. She participated in four NCAA tournaments and on the WTA professional tour. She graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in Journalism in 1995 and Northwestern University with an M.S. in Broadcast Journalism in 1997. Mawicke received a Peter Lisagor Award in 2007 for her narrative on the Bear's long snapper. She earned three local Emmy Awards for her work on the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon broadcasts on CBS 2 Chicago (2004, 2005, 2006).
