Martha Williamson Biography

Martha Williamson began writing for television in 1984 working on musical variety programs for Carol Burnett Walt Disney Television and others. She then spent six years in situation comedy as a writer and producer on such series as The Facts of Life and The Family Man before making the transition to one-hour drama in 1992. Williamson also created and executive produced Promised Land which had a successful three year run also on CBS. Touched By An Angel was nominated for nine Emmy Awards and was inducted into the Museum of Television and Radio Hall of Fame. Now under her MoonWater Productions banner she's developing a slate of theatrical release films in the family genre for the same loyal audience who embraced her television work for so many years. In 2003 Williamson was appointed by President George W. Bush to the bi-partisan President's Council on Service and Civic Participation. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Pasadena Playhouse leading the fundraising effort for the Carrie Hamilton Theater in memory of the late daughter of her friend Carol Burnett and the Board of Trustees of The King's College and Seminary.
