Making her philosophy a reality, Marta serves as an advocate, philanthropist, fundraiser, and volunteer. She weaves her CSR philosophy into her daily rhythm and encourages other leaders to do the same.
To give back, Marta created and steers TSI’s award-winning FEED TO LEAD Program which puts CSR in motion providing funding and volunteer hours to charities and nourishing leadership potential in those who need a helping hand. In recent years Marta has organized FEED TO LEAD efforts to support the Equal Footing Foundation, So Others Might Eat, Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, Easter Seals, American Red Cross, and March of Dimes. She also donates a portion of proceeds from her books (Leaders in Motion, Everybody’s Business, and Energized Enterprise) to these charities of choice.
With a commitment to service, Marta sits on the Board of Easter Seals Serving DC | MD | VA where she is committed to helping all people with special needs, including military families, to thrive. She shares her time and talents through volunteering, fundraising, donating, and advocating for Easter Seals and chairs their Marketing and Development Committee. Marta is a member of the American Red Cross Tiffany Circle and a former member of the National Women’s History Museum Presidents Council and former Board member of the Virginia Network of Nonprofit Organizations. Recognition for Marta’s charitable efforts include: Heroines of Washington Award, National Jefferson Award for Public Service, Brava! Award, and Fairfax Chamber Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award.
With a commitment to bringing leaders together, Marta actively participates in the DC Metro area business and philanthropic community. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Technology Association (NVTC) and the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) National Capital Chapter. She is also active in professional associations such as the American Society for Quality, the Society for Industrial Organizational Psychology, the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and the American Psychological Association. She is a recognized expert in leadership effectiveness, organizational improvement, and transformation strategy. Marta is renowned for not only changing ideas about what it means to be a leader, but thriving in her own role as a leader in motion. She holds a PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Virginia Tech.
